Welcome to the inaugural GEN Spotlight—a 2.5-hour virtual event on the dynamic field of Organoids.
From neurodevelopment and brain research to cancer and drug development, researchers are using organoid models to unveil biological insights that were previously unattainable using traditional cell culture experiments or animal models. This research has profound implications for basic biomedical research and more applied therapeutic applications in drug discovery and development as well as cell- and tissue-replacement therapies. It also raises the prospect of a profound transformation in the process of drug development, as organoids could potentially supplant the use of animal models.
In this inaugural GEN Spotlight on Organoids, hosted by GEN Deputy Editor in Chief Julianna LeMieux, PhD, we are delighted to feature an exclusive fireside chat with renowned organoid pioneer Hans Clevers, MD, PhD (Hubrecht Institute, the Netherlands). We will also feature a panel discussion on brain organoids with Maya Gosztyla, PhD (BrainStorm Tx) and Vanesa Nieto-Estévez, PhD (UT San Antonio); a presentation on regeneration and disease from Meritxell Huch, PhD (Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics); and a breakout session from one of our sponsors.
Our thanks to Corning and 28bio for their generous support of this Spotlight. Registration is entirely free! The program will also be free to watch on demand shortly after the live broadcast.
